SUCOMA SACCO, a member-owned financial cooperative committed to providing efficient and reliable financial services to its members, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Technology and Systems Officer

Job Summary

The Technology and Systems Officer will be responsible for overseeing the software applications, including developing, installing, and maintaining application programs. The officer will also assist in determining future hardware and software requirements to ensure efficient and secure operations of the SACCO’s technology systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage the environment and infrastructure of SUCOMA SACCO, including installation and maintenance of hardware, software, and networks.

  2. Establish and maintain secure Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN), email systems, and connections.

  3. Perform system processes such as start-of-day, end-of-day, close of business, month-end, and year-end procedures.

  4. Train all computer users on system use and proper care of ICT equipment.

  5. Recommend and implement technology and system policies governing the use of internet and computer facilities.

  6. Develop and modify system reports as requested by users through the Manager.

  7. Maintain up-to-date client/member information in the database, including processing member closures.

  8. Manage user access levels to ensure information security.

  9. Ensure the SACCO’s banking software functions properly and promptly resolve system anomalies in collaboration with the software developers.

  10. Manage the SACCO’s security systems such as CCTV and alarms, ensuring they are always functional and reporting any faults promptly.

Standards of Performance

The Technology and Systems Officer will provide effective support to all system users to maintain an efficient service delivery environment. Performance will be measured by:

  • Stability and reliability of the application systems

  • Ability to plan and implement system programs effectively

  • Presence of early warning and recovery systems to minimize downtime

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science
  • Strong knowledge of database management, network administration, and information security

  • Experience with SACCO or banking software will be an added advantage
